Pocket Pulse Vibrator by Hot Octopuss

One of my all-time favorite “guy toys” is the Pulse massager by Hot Octopuss. Peepshow Toys is now stocking the newest gadget in the Pulse line – the Pocket Pulse – and I excitedly agreed to test and review it for them.

As the name would suggest, the Pocket Pulse is a smaller version of the popular Pulse. Not only has Hot Octopuss resized it, but they’ve completely changed the way it’ll get you off. Whereas the original Pulse (and the two follow up models) use oscillation to deliver stimulation to just the spot you want it, the Pocket Pulse was designed to work in an entirely different way.

Like the larger models, the Pocket Pulse wraps around your penis and stimulates the sensitive bits, namely the head, shaft, and the frenulum (aka “the sweet spot”). Instead of the Pulse’s wraparound “wings” that hug the cock, the Pocket version has a firm narrow strap that comes up and nearly all the way around to the other side of the toy. It looks sort of like a handle on a basket and the idea is you’re going to slide your cock under this handle so it nestles against the inner aspect of the toy. While pretty stationary during use, the handle is flexible enough to move while you’re trying to get your dick situated in the desired spot. Like the larger models, you can use the Pocket Pulse while you’re soft or hard. Since this new version is smaller/lighter, it’s much easier to get a hands-free experience, which is one of this toy’s best features. While the surface and the flexible arm of the Pocket Pulse are made of silicone, the body of the toy is hard ABS plastic. The design also includes a molded “finger groove” on the underside, to make the toy more comfortable to hold during use.

When you’re ready to use, just place your cock – erect or flaccid – inside the toy. Once you’re situated, use one of two buttons to control the Pocket Pulse. To start it up, simply press and hold the + button on the side. The Pocket Pulse comes equipped with five levels of vibrations, and you’ll immediately note that even on its lowest setting it’s a powerful vibrator. Unlike the larger Hot Octopuss massagers, this little guy has been designed with two side-by-side vibrators that rest under the silicone surface of the toy. Not only does the layer pressed against your cock vibrate like crazy, but every other bit of this toy jangles with powerful vibrations. Because the Pocket Pulse is so powerful, I didn’t really notice a huge difference between its lowest setting and the top one. They’re all really strong. While I do love a strong vibrator, it might be nice to have a little variance in the vibration intensities. Some guys like to start off slow and work themselves up to a powerful finish. Other times, it’s nice to be able to decrease the intensity to something more sensual and less likely to push you over the edge before you’re ready. Like it’s bigger brothers, the Pocket Pulse is a little difficult to downshift into “oops, I’m getting too close” mode. With the strap practically gripping your dick like a little koala bear, you can’t easily yank the thing away from the danger zone swiftly before you overheat. To turn the vibrations off completely, you need to press and hold the – button on the opposite side. Those extra few seconds can be all it takes to send you into orbit before you’re ready. There is a remote control model of the Pocket Pulse, and I think if you’re likely to need a faster/easier shutoff mode, this might come in very handy! And – of course – a remote control handed over to a devious lover or fuck buddy could really make for a fun time! So maybe add a remote. And a blindfold! ?

As with the larger Pulse toys I’ve tried, I can never keep from blowing my wad before I want to and I always end up drenching the toy. Another great feature of the Pocket Pulse is that it’s totally waterproof, so go ahead and dirty it up! Everything will come clean under a hot tap when you’re finished. In fact, a touch of your favorite water-based lube on the inner pad will make this thing feel even better, so go ahead and try that too. Because the Pocket Pulse is seamless, you might have a difficult time figuring out where the charging port is. Look carefully for a small round dot near the bottom edge of the silicone layer. To charge your toy, simply ease the metal prong at the end of the charging cord into this hole and plug the other end into the USB port on your computer or a wall charger with a USB connection. When the little light turns from red to blue, you’re ready to use your new toy.

Overall, I really liked the Pocket Pulse. I do like my full-sized Pulse better, but I think that’s because the stimulation is largely delivered through the oscillating “Pulse plate” that rests perfectly against my frenulum. Frenulum stimulation is my favorite way to nut, so it would be hard for any toy to beat this sensation. The Pocket Pulse does stimulate my sweet spot, but it vibrates everything else it touches, too, so it’s less of a pinpointed pleasure. Still, the vibrations are more powerful than I’ve ever seen in a toy so small. If it’s intensity you’re after, this will deliver. With the smaller size, comes a tighter fit, especially if you’re using this thing while erect. Thankfully, the silicone arm offers some flexibility. The wraparound strap is a way nicer design for hands-free use, but you won’t be able to move the toy around as much as you can with the larger versions.

Hands-free use is one of the Pocket Pulse’s best features! Who doesn’t like to feel his dick brought to orgasm without touching it? You’ll be squirming around like crazy with this thing. The waterproof feature is another great thing, even if you’re not going to hop in the tub with your Pocket Pulse. The powerful vibrations will be a big pro for some, and others won’t like them as much. If you need or desire powerful vibes, you won’t believe how great this little guy delivers. If you need more variety (especially with speeds or vibration patterns), I’d recommend going for the larger Pulse.

The smaller size does make it a bit lighter as it clings to your dick, but I think you’ll only notice a big difference if you’re using either of the Pulse models hands-free.
