Purple Rain Dildo

I’m not sure what drew me to the Purple Rain dildo from Blush Novelties, but I’m so happy I picked one up. I’m not typically a fan of purple sex toys, but the different shades of purple that are used in this dildo are quite pleasing to the eye when they’re brought together in a unique striped pattern. With the soft silicone that it’s made of, the rounded head and the nicely curved shaft, the Purple Rain immediately went onto my sex toy wish list.

I became a fan of Blush Novelties back in 2013, when I reviewed a few toys for them, including the original incarnation of the Ergo Mini dildo. The company has been putting out a lot of cool silicone toys lately and the colorful Avant line really caught my eye. I decided on the Purple Rain not only because I liked the way the different shades of violet come together in an array of stripes, but because it has such a nice shape and size. At 7.5″ inches long, it’s not the biggest dildo out there, but it’s still a good length for guys who are looking to go a little deeper than most plugs and prostate massagers venture. While the Purple Rain is generally phallic in shape, it’s not an overly realistic-looking cock. While some users love a lifelike flesh-colored dick with a glans-like head and balls for the base, others shy away from overly realistic toys. The Purple Rain does sport a defined head, but it’s more serpentine than cock-like. Once you push the flared head past your hole, there’s a smooth shaft with a sweet curve before coming to rest on a round anal-safe base that also doubles as a suction cup. The insertable length of this toy is six inches, and the width of the shaft is about an inch-and-a-half.

While there’s nothing too extreme about the size of this dildo, anal newbies might want to work their way up to this one. Still, the satiny texture of the silicone – when properly lubricated with a good water-based lube – makes insertion a lot easier than you’d think. The material is firm, but has a nice flexibility to it, so it’s going to bend when you need it to. Also, when you bear down on the Purple Rain with your anal muscles, there’s just enough give to keep things from getting too uncomfortable. Once you’re relaxed enough (and well lubed!), try some slow thrusting. The smooth glide of this toy was my favorite thing, so if you’re into thrusting with silicone dildos, Blush Novelties did this one right. The longer you thrust, the warmer it grows.

I wish more dildos would use round bases like the ones on the Avant dildos. It’s wide enough to keep you from worrying about losing the dildo up inside you, but it’s not so bulky to cause discomfort as it rests between your cheeks during full insertion. And it also works great as a suction cup. Maybe the best one I’ve ever used. It attached firmly to any surface I tried it on (smooth floor, hard chair, tile shower wall) and held the toy in place during use, so go ahead and sit and ride, or back yourself onto it if you have a safe place to attach it to a wall (remember, showers and tubs can get slippery when you’re losing yourself to a fun dildo ride). If you’re into harness sex, note that the Purple Rain base is harness compatible as well.

What else can I say about this great dildo? Like all good silicone toys, it warms to your body temperature, so it feels really nice when it’s inside you. It’s non-porous and odor free, and cleaning up after use is as easy as soap and hot water. I’m so pleased that more companies are recognizing the need for well-made silicone sex toys.
